# Undelegating Hive Power

Let's say that you have an existing delegation to @empo.voter and you want to recover full control on your Hive Power.

1\. Go to your account and search the lens next to your Hive Power number:

Click the trash icon and sign the transaction:

That's it. Your delegation is now in cooldown and you'll be able to use again your Hive Power in **5 full days.**

The undelegation period which lasts for 5 days is a feature of the chain itself and has nothing to do with the service.

There is no way to speed up this process or to cancel it once it has started. You can only wait the full 5 days during which the Hive Power is in limbo.
